Celebrate What's Right: The State of Education

While urban education is not a unique issue to Memphis, our city is leading with unique solutions. All eyes are on our city, and Memphis is proving what’s possible on a national scale. With the local education landscape evolving rapidly, what are the most important steps we have taken and where do we go from here?

Join New Memphis, in partnership with Chalkbeat, for Celebrate What's Right: The State of Education on June 6 to hear from those leading in education – from policy makers to principals – on the successes and struggles in Memphis classrooms, and what innovations are pushing public education forward.

You'll hear perspectives from:

Kendra Ferguson, Executive Director of KIPP Memphis Collegiate Schools
Robert Harvey, Chief Executive Officer at STAR Academy
Carol Johnson, Executive Director, Regional Programs at New Leaders
Brad Leon, Chief of Strategy & Performance Management at Shelby County Schools
Marcus Robinson, CEO at Memphis Education Fund
Tim Ware, Executive Director of Achievement School District
...as well as other school leaders and local students.

Do a Little Good Over Lunch

We will be collecting gently used men’s suits for Memphis Suit Project at the Celebrate What’s Right luncheon on June 6. Suits and professional attire in good condition will be collected at the door. We will also collect women’s professional attire for the Memphis Chapter of Dress for Success. All donations are tax deductible, and you will receive a donation receipt when you drop off your donation. Have questions? Email Megan Carolan.

New Memphis’ Celebrate What’s Right luncheon series, generously sponsored by the First Tennessee Foundation, shines a light on progress and success in our community, including Memphis’ education initiatives.
